elements of style #40 /GRACE JONES, in four looks, circa 1970s

Grace Jones, epitomizes a hard-edge sartorial iconoclasm, picture, circa 1970s, by Jean-Paul Goude, the Warm Leatherette days, the height of androgyny.

Grace Jones’ popularize the square-cut hair in the 1980s. Her first album cover to feature this hairstyle was 1980’s Warm Leatherette. Her VERY PARTICULAR look was/is perfect for the music video medium, photography life-performance. To witness a Jones concert is to be stirred to no bounds by a singularly stylish presence and personage.

What a killer style in every chic sense of the word. No one does it better than Grace Jones!

Like Vinyl record for hat!

She has absolutely served as a catalyzing vehicle and inspiration for loads of other artists, from Annie Lennox, Rihanna to Lady Gaga who is arguably the contemporary heir to Grace Jones.

Amazing Grace, LIVE!  The picture of androgyny has never been so wickedly delineated with such panache and devil may care attitude. LIVE!
