street style/BARNABY WHITFIELD lust for chic

NAME: BARNABY WHITFIELD

Age: Depends on the circumstance

Astrological Sign: Leo

Profession: Artist

Residence: Brooklyn

Favorite color: Grey

Favorite Fashion Designer: So many.. and I crush over certain items more than anything. I love finding weird one-offs on Etsy as well .. Rick Owens,  Rozalb de Mura, I would take everything from Yuima Nakazato S/S 2011,  Anrealage is AMAZING …. the coat that appeared on the 2006 S/S collection ‘Butter’ invitation is an absolute obsession of mine.. I would do ANYTHING.. truly anything.. to have that piece.

Favorite Shoe/Accessories Designer: I abuse the hell out of my shoes.. I order the Giorgi Brutini Cuban heeled ankle boots in black and bone every few months from zappos.com as my day-to-day go-to-item .. and I can’t do without the Pennangalan Zac Magic boot.. and I never leave the house without my Knot Beau necklace made for me by Shella Robinson.

Favorite Parfum: Gaultier2 for head, chest, stomach and arms .. Opium for Men at the back of neck and down the spine… Comme des Garçons White for the naughty bits

Favorite Stylish Film: Hausu (1977) .. I am obsessed with Gorgeous

Favorite Hangout: The Commodore. It’s all about the honey butter on those little biscuits with cocktails and good music

Favorite Place/s: Under a massive and old Spanish moss draped Live Oak tree with my favorite cocktail

Favorite Cocktail: Gin and grapefruit juice with a sprig of mint or basil

Who is your style icon? Andie Walsh, Michele Lamy .. and Marko from The Lost Boys

What item of clothing would you rather starve for? Easy.. the aforementioned Anrealage coat. OR.. the entire Yuima Nakazato S/S 2011 collection. I would live out the rest of my days in ONLY that if it were donated for such a venture.

What is your overall impression of how people dress in general? Fashion is our mis-en-scene. It’s the way of telling a story without direct communication. I must say I am surprised at the lack of joy in dressing..the lack of adventure… the desire to hide en masse.. to disappear in ubiquity.

And what do you recommend that they do otherwise? Always go too far and dress up when traveling. Adventurously!!!
