SPECIAL GUEST INTERVIEW: HERVE-PIERRE
What are you working on now?
We are working on resort 2012
What should we expect in general or particular for your Spring 2012 collection? I didn’t start yet!
What inspires you the most for each collection? Each collection starts with either an exhibition that we saw in the design studio or a book. Each of them is related to a story, it’s never the same start …
And as the creative director for Carolina Herrera, what does your job entail in relation to Mrs. Herrera?
I spend all my days with Mrs. Herrera! I work now for more than 9 years directly with her…. I saw her once in bad mood!!!!!!!!…. Everything is so chic and civilized at the office, the way she dresses, the way she tells you stories, the way she lives, the way she is at the office in the sample rooms, the way she gets in her car—are enough to inspire any designer!
My job is to capture what she has in her mind and we translate them on paper, then on canvas, then finally on/with fabrics in order to realize what she is in the mood for regarding the next season….
Mrs. Herrera sets the tone as soon as she arrives at the office… we are certainly a very unusual fashion house on 7th Avenue! We all hate drama!
As Mrs. Herrera says all the time: “we are only making dresses, we are not saving the World.”
