PICTURE: #5 IN FOURTEEN ACTS
SPECIAL GUEST INTERVIEW:
JAMES AGUIAR TALKS ABOUT HIS 5th OUTFIT
What items did you use to compose this particular outfit?
Halston midnight blue smoking jacket
Club Monaco black turtleneck
John Bartlett pants
Paul Smith shoes
Alberta Ferretti pocket square.
How did you arrive at the decision to compose such an outfit?
This is my classic Halston look! A straight up rip off of his iconic image.
Did you compose this outfit spontaneously or was it planned ahead of time?
I compose everything ahead of time!
On a scale of 10, how pleased are you with this composition/outfit?
I will give this outfit a 10. Maybe not the most original but sometimes you can’t go wrong with “emulating” someone else’s style
What roles do color, the fit, and integrity of fabric play in this particular outfit?
This is entertaining at home, somewhat casual but still very formal. The midnight navy velvet make it a nice break from the traditional black and the crushed “glass” boots give it just the right amount of sparkle. I feel like the perfect host!
How soon would you repeat/wear this same outfit again?
This is the type of look that you can wear a million different ways and I probably will. But the classic black turtleneck and smoking jacket will never leave my repertoire.
There is perhaps a spiritual, emotional, intellectual or psychological aspect to the what/how we dress. What is your personal experience in relation to this outfit?
I feel a connection to Halston when I wear this…I know it sounds silly but I can picture myself at Studio 54 hanging with Andy and Liza and laughing and having a great time.
