SPECIAL GUEST INTERVIEW:
LUCIA HWONG GORDON TALKS ABOUT HER 2nd OUTFIT
What items did you use to compose this particular outfit?
Zang Toi blue silk dress with coral beading
Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and bag
Coral earrings from Dortea Liguori’s store in Capri
Bulgari serpenti watch
Vintage bracelet from Rose Jewelers in Southampton.
How did you arrive at the decision to compose such an outfit?
When I bought the delightful Zang Toi dress, I thought of my red Giuseppi Zanotti shoes and bag which I already possessed. The accessories would play beautifully with the coral accents of the dress.
Did you compose this outfit spontaneously or was it planned ahead of time?
I have worn this outfit to the FIT charity lunch at Lincoln Center honoring Karl Lagerfeld. Would wear it again in a heartbeat for a luncheon or cocktail.
On a scale of 10, how pleased are you with this composition/outfit?
I feel elegant and mischievous with the subtle surprise edge of the transparent navy fabric inset panel of the silk dress accentuated with the beaded with coral.
What roles do color, the fit, and integrity of fabric play in this particular outfit?
I love the elegance of the navy blue silk dress. It reminds me of the cut and fit of a traditional Chinese cheongsam, which is feminine and flattering. The transparent navy panel gives a naughty flair to a classic dress. Love the coral beading which adds whimsy.
How soon would you repeat/wear this same outfit again?
I usually wear this outfit in the spring or fall seasons and always feel stunning.
There is perhaps a spiritual, emotional, intellectual or psychological aspect to the what/how we dress. What is your personal experience in relation to this outfit?
The fit and cut reminds me of my Chinese roots and the traditional cheongsam. I love Zang’s modern interpretation. He brings the beauty of the traditional classic shape into a modern fashion statement. I feel the integration of ancient and modern in this dress and it makes me feel eternally beautiful.
