SPECIAL GUEST INTERVIEW:
LUCIA HWONG GORDON
TALKS ABOUT HER 9th OUTFIT

What items did you use to compose this particular outfit?
Zang Toi navy blue silk gown
Giuseppe Zanotti rhinestoned pumps
Judith Leiber bag
Bulgari Concentrica earrings and Serpenti watch
Vintage Van Cleef and Arpels ring
Marquise jewelers necklace and bracelet

How did you arrive at the decision to compose such an outfit?
Going to an ASPCA charity gala at the Pierre Hotel in New York.

Did you compose this outfit spontaneously or was it planned ahead of time?
I have worn this dress to several charities and theater openings. Every time I wear this gown, there is an element of spontaneity because I add new elements, changing the shoes, bag, jewelry and hair!

On a scale of 10, how pleased are you with this composition/outfit?
10! When I zip myself into this gown in the evening, with a little help from the children or nanny, (there are back hooks for the boned bodice) I feel transformed into a world of elegance, even if I am rushed and tired from the day.

What roles do color, the fit, and integrity of fabric play in this particular outfit?
The quiet elegance of the navy silk and exquisite black lace and tulle train of the gown is utter luxury.  I contrast it with black silk Giuseppe Zanotti super bling rhinestone shoes.

How soon would you repeat/wear this same outfit again?
Yes, when I love a gown, I never limit myself by thinking how many times I wear it. I contemplate when can I wear it again for an exquisite evening in an elegant setting somewhere in the world with dear friends. The challenge is changing the accessories to keep the look fresh.

There is perhaps a spiritual, emotional, intellectual or psychological aspect to the what/how we dress. What is your personal experience in relation to this outfit?
I love Zang Toi as a designer and a person.  His clothes transform not only how I look but how I feel.  I am elevated into an exquisite world of reveling in couture detail and exuding elegant confidence in his creations.
