PICTURE: #8 IN TEN ACTS
SPECIAL GUEST INTERVIEW:
KATLEAN de MONCHY TALKS ABOUT HER 8TH OUTFIT
What items did you use to compose this particular outfit?
Coat – a lace Viktor & Rolf
Necklace – Erikson Beamon
Red clutch – Roger Vivier
Trousers – vintage satin trousers
Sequin tank – Express
Shoes – Bon Marche, Paris
How did you arrive at the decision to compose such a outfit?
When I hear Chic, I think Black. There really is nothing chicer than black but it can also be boring…so how does one wear black and make it sing?
The lace coat is by Viktor & Rolf. I adore this coat. The texture and transparency makes it interesting. Underneath for texture a sequin tank top from Express.
Over a pair of satin skinny pants are vintage. The Chanel cuff makes a statement and the white Erikson Beamon pearls are the final accent, as is the red Roger Vivier bag…. This outfit is great for a dinner party
I wanted to wear lace and I put white under first and it looked pretty fab but I decided black was harder to do and it is what we all wear so it would be more exciting to find a way to make black sparkle…the little details make the look.
Did you compose this outfit spontaneously or was it planned ahead of time?
This was spontaneous
On a scale of 10, how pleased are you with this composition/outfit?
I think it’s a 9
What roles do color, the fit, and integrity of fabric play in this particular outfit?
The lace fabric, the satin and black-on-black played a key role.
How soon would you repeat/wear this same outfit again?
I can wear this over and over again; I might change the shoe and I could wear a dress; I’ve also worked white and red with this coat
There is perhaps a spiritual, emotional, intellectual or psychological aspect to the what/how we dress. What is your personal experience in relation to this outfit?
Black usually makes one fade away so I am interested in black with different texture.
