PICTURE: #10 IN SIXTEEN ACTS
SPECIAL GUEST INTERVIEW:
TZIPORAH SALAMON TALKS ABOUT HER 10th OUTFIT
What items did you use to compose this particular outfit?
Vintage Moschino Couture jacket bought at the Manhattan Vintage Show
Silk Mark Jacobs pants
Vintage straw hat bought at the Manhattan Vintage Show
Bakelite cuffs with red diamond motifs bought at flea markets
Vintage beaded purse
Manolo Blahnik mules.
How did you arrive at the decision to compose such an outfit?
It started with the jacket. I knew I would play up the Harlequin look. It was easy as I had all the components in my possession already.
Did you compose this outfit spontaneously or was it planned ahead of time?
I knew immediately how I would compose this outfit and it was just a matter of bringing the jacket home. Everything else was already assembled.
On a scale of 10, how pleased are you with this composition/outfit?
This outfit makes me very happy. I would give it a 9.
What roles do color, the fit, and integrity of fabric play in this particular outfit?
The jacket is so sensational and has so much going for it – the colors, the texture, the diamond motif. It screamed harlequin so I just paired it with the cuffs to continue the diamond motif, narrow silk pants, and the straw hat with the white and red combination echoing the colors of the jacket to top it off and give it that exclamation point.
How soon would you repeat/wear this same outfit again?
I wear this outfit often when I am going to an art opening. I wore it to the Metropolitan Museum when they had the Picasso exhibit with the clown. It was the perfect choice.
There is perhaps a spiritual, emotional, intellectual or psychological aspect to the what/how we dress. What is your personal experience in relation to this outfit?
I love wearing this outfit. It makes me happy and it makes everyone else happy. It brings smiles to people’s faces.
