PICTURE: #14 IN SIXTEEN ACTS
SPECIAL GUEST INTERVIEW:
TZIPORAH SALAMON TALKS ABOUT HER 14th OUTFIT
What items did you use to compose this particular outfit?
Velvet Green embroidered outer jacket, probably Masonic, bought at the Manhattan Vintage Show
Vintage green/red paisley scarf bought at the Pier Show
Green cashmere knickers that I had made
Vintage Green suede hat with stripes gifted to me
Vintage green bag with bakelite closure bought at the flea market
Vintage men’s Victorian needle-point slippers bought at the pier show
Bakelite bracelets.
How did you arrive at the decision to compose such an outfit?
I had the underneath components of the outfit—the jacket, knickers and scarf—but I needed another layer for when it got cold. When I found this outer jacket, with its ample room under the arms to accommodate the jacket underneath, I knew it would work. I already had the shoes and I even had the hat, which was the perfect topper.
Did you compose this outfit spontaneously or was it planned ahead of time?
The outfit was planned years ahead. I just waited for the right outer layer to appear and when I saw it, I knew immediately and was so happy and grateful to have it.
On a scale of 10, how pleased are you with this composition/outfit?
I would give it a 10. It all works.
What roles do color, the fit, and integrity of fabric play in this particular outfit?
The green color is the common thread throughout with red and gold accents picked up in the embroidery of the coat, the scarf, the hat and the shoes. And the velvet of the jacket is echoed in the suede of the hat and the richness of the faux crocodile of the bag.
How soon would you repeat/wear this same outfit again?
I wear this outfit in the Winter/late autumn when I want to make a statement and when I know the function is held outdoors and I will not be removing the outer jacket.
There is perhaps a spiritual, emotional, intellectual or psychological aspect to the what/how we dress. What is your personal experience in relation to this outfit?
I love the richness of the fabrics and the color. It’s also a very complex composition and rather daring in its appearance so I have to feel confident and self-assured when I wear it. It attracts much attention and I have to be ready to handle that.

I love the green and then the stockings to balance off the top heavy look! it is complex, like you and being aware of your brilliance to match the outfit is important for all women to be aware of, thank you!!
The stockings set the whole thing off to a T as well. Love the Masonic/fraternal cape too. It all works well. A good point about attracting attention and needing to be prepared to cope with that. Not for the shy this outfit…
Ahhhh… this outfit is a showstopper. This whole series has been wonderful.. important and valuable documentation of a body of wholly original work by a highly creative artist.
omg!, you see this woman in these amazing costumes and what can you even say? that this is the most gorgeous? well . . . this is the MOST GORGEOUS! I SWEAR TO GOD!
